The First Pilates Performer - Joseph Pilates
All women that are performing Pilates nowadays - for different reasons, to keep in shape, to lose that annoying extra weight and so on, may or may not know that the first Pilates performer was Joseph Hubertus Pilates. Of course, for many women this information does not actually present any interest at all, because they are simply interested in the exercising techniques rather than the history of the man who first though of inventing this. Yet, this article is supposed to create some kind of an interactive history of the first Pilates performer. It is known that Joseph Pilates was born somewhere in Germany, Dusseldorf more precisely. What is very surprising is that even if Pilates have become popular during the last 20 years, their first performer has been born somewhere in the 1880s, making it a long while, and also making you wonder if it is not actually a new trend rather than a real exercising program. Getting back to Joseph Pilates, he had health issues ever since he was a kid, suffering from asthma and rheumatism, and this was one of the biggest reasons for which he started looking for ways through which he could get physically stronger. After a short while after he had been diagnostic with those problems he started training, he picked up gymnastics and he trained in body building as well. As a result, to this, soon enough he became incredibly fit. While he was working out during his many sessions, as a very bright boy he was, he started thinking that maybe the main reason of health problems developed nowadays on Earth can be this ugly posture imposed to us by the society. The fact that we do not have enough time to exercise, and we are always caught sitting in bad positions for the spine, for bones and so on, at the office, in the car, in the bus and so on, and because we do not know how to breathe properly may develop serious problem in any human body. Therefore, he thought of a different form of exercising training that combines both movements and proper breathing. Soon enough he also created special equipment for this kind of training, designed the specifications and also optimized it so that it could fit anybody. In 1910, he moved to England, and by then he picked up boxing. Amazingly as it may seem, that unhealthy boy have now picked boxing and he was a circus performer and a self-defense teacher. The Pilates Method was actually born during the first World War when Joseph was imprisoned with other Germans and he trained them in his terribly odd but effective practice. Joseph Pilates, among from making-out that miracle exercising system has also written many books about health and control, most of which can be bought with discount from your local bookstore. Pilates died somewhere in 1967, and he lived a long and healthy life, and way different from how it's medics predicted it to him when he was a child, proving that exercise is indeed a great way of remaining always healthy. |
